Student Enrollment Procedure

The application and enrollment procedures for the Institute are fairly straightforward. Requirements are as follows:

1. Students must be 18 years of age.

2. Submit completed application form and attachments:

• verification from your physician stating that you are in good health

• high school diploma

• official transcripts from all high schools, colleges and any other academic institutions previously attended (MBI awards credit for previous academic work in terms of both hours and tuition. The amount of such credit awarded is up to the discretion of the administrators.)

• current resume

• relevant biographical data, including why you are interested in becoming a  massage therapist, what skills/characteristics you possess to be a  good therapist, and what setting and clients would you like to serve

• two letters of personal reference from persons (other than family members) who have known you for at least three years

3. Schedule a personal interview with the Director of Education. This interview may be conducted via telephone if the student resides out-of-state. (NOTE: Interviews are scheduled only after the application and ALL applicable attachments have been received.)

4. Upon acceptance, schedule an enrollment signing date, at which time an enrollment agreement, in accordance with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, will be reviewed and signed.

A student may be accepted for admission to the program any time before the beginning of a new class. Enrolled students are guaranteed access to their academic files by a request made to the Director of Education. In order to maintain confidentiality, all requests must be made by the individual whose name appears on the requested file. Students must notify MBI regarding any change in name, marital status, address, home or work telephone numbers.
