Placement Assistance Although no direct placement is guaranteed, a current list of employment opportunities is available. The file and advisement services are available to all MBI students and graduates. Currently our graduates are employed in private practice, hospitals, doctors' offices, chiropractic offices, physical therapy clinics, day spas, hair salons, nail salons, gyms, resorts and massage therapy establishments. Grading System Student progress in each course of the curriculum will be assessed by regular examinations given throughout the program. The grade received on any written examination will be determined by the following scale: A 90%-100% 4 B 80%-89% 3 C 70%-79% 2 D 69%-below 0 Any student falling below a 70 (C) average will be notified in writing of being placed on academic probation and required to see a staff advisor. If grades do not rise above a 75 by the end of one month, the student will be dismissed from the program. Students must make a passing grade in all courses or equivalent assignments in order to receive a diploma from the Mind Body Institute. In addition to written examinations, courses of instruction in massage also require a student to pass a practical examination designed to ascertain the student's ability to actually perform the skills associated with this form of therapy. The student's performance on these practical examinations will also be given a letter grade based upon grading credits established for each exam. Transfer of credits earned at MBI is determined by the institute receiving the student transcripts. Authorization by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission does not guarantee transferability. Satisfactory Progress Progress will be checked at 25%, 50% and program completion. In order to maintain satisfactory progress, students must maintain a grade of 70 (C) in each course of instruction. There are no incompletes or remedial courses. Tests must be taken on the day they are scheduled. Student Teacher Ratio Lecture 20:1 Lab 10:1 A clock hour is defined as actual directed or supervised instructional time, not to be less than 50 minutes for every 60 minutes of time. Professional Associations Participation in professional associations encourages growth and awareness. There are many professional organizations available to students and graduates. We encourage you to research all the options and choose an organization that meets your needs. Benefits of membership include professional and general liability insurance, magazine and newsletter subscriptions, networking, referrals and continuing education. Non-Discrimination Policy This assurance is directed to the end that no person shall, on the ground of race, color, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or age be excluded from the massage program. Attendance Students must notify MBI if they are unable to attend class or will be late. Students will be considered tardy after class begins. Tardiness in excess of 15 minutes late will be considered a one hour absence. Authorized absences occur when a student is absent for reasons beyond their control such as: personal illness in immediate family, death, sickness, or accident. Completion of classes must occur within 10 school days of absence. There is a $30 per class charge for any makeup classes payable to the instructor. Leave of Absence A leave of absence or interruption of training may be granted upon approval of administration. Conditions for Dismissal A student will be dismissed from the school for the following reasons:
Condition for reinstatement Once a student has been dismissed for any of the reasons listed, they may seek reinstatement through a personal interview with the Director. If the Director feels the student will return and comply with school rules and regulations, a probationary period of 3 weeks will be arranged. If the dismissal was based on failure to pay tuition, the amount owed must be brought into balance prior to reinstatement. Transferability of Credits Credits earned at Mind Body Institute, LLC (MBI) may not transfer to another educational institution. Credits earned at another educational institution may not be accepted by MBI. You should obtain confirmation that MBI will accept any credits you have earned at another educational institution before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement. You should also contact any educational institutions that you may want to transfer credits earned at MBI to determine if such institutions will accept credits earned at MBI prior to executing an enrollment contract or agreement. The ability to transfer credits from MBI to another educational institution may be very limited. Your credits may not transfer and you may have to repeat courses previously taken at MBI if you enroll in another educational institution. You should never assume that credits will transfer to or from any educational institution.
